Other Environmental Health InitiativesFlight for LifeDescriptionFlight for Life is a Lung Association awareness, health education and behaviour change initiative to improve air quality. The ultimate objective is to achieve behaviour change by taking action and making personal commitments that will help improve the air that we breathe. Flight for Life is asking every person to make one small change, one commitment towards improving air quality. For individuals, it could be as simple as promising to quit smoking or not idling ones vehicle. For communities, it could be a decision to go pesticide-free, or a campaign to encourage the use of public transit. For students, it could be walking to school instead of getting a ride or starting an air quality challenge with another school. These are just a few examples. Once committing to this change (or changes), a pledge is written on a Flight For Life Earth Kite or Earth Frisbee and flown in celebration of this promise to help improve air quality. Teachers and students can learn more about the environment by visiting the Flight for Life educational modules on Tobacco, Air Quality and Climate Change at http://www.nb.lung.ca/FFL/.Flight for Lifes educational partnerships with students will help spread knowledge and commitment throughout communities.
