Flu Alert
Different strains of the highly contagious influenza (flu) virus infect millions of Canadians each year. Millions fall sick, and thousands die. Seniors and the chronically ill are at extremely high risk for complication of pneumonia. The combination of influenza and pneumonia is the fifth leading killer of adults over the age of 65 years old. Unfortunately only 20-40% of high risk individuals have been getting their vaccine each year.
Our goal is to target individuals who fall within the highest health risks of contracting influenza. These include: over the age of 65; residents of nursing homes; anyone with chronic lung disease; those with chronic heart disease; anyone with kidney disease; and anyone with cancer. |
