CEPA is an act that aims to improve pollution prevention and protect human and environmental health in order to contribute to sustainable development. Members of the Canadian health community may wish to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to have a voice in improving the Act, which is the corner stone of Canadian legislation for environmental influences on health. We encourage you to learn more about the importance of CEPA to the health care community through our brief summary document “ The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 and the Canadian Health Sector”. Our documents “ What is CEPA 1999?” and “ The CEPA Review Process” are fairly short descriptions of the Act and the Review Process that we hope will enable you to participate in this process. We have conducted an analysis of the Act and have summarized some key areas that need stronger actions for health protection. These are summarised in the document "Advisory Table for CEPA Submissions from the Health Sector". In addition, "The Guidance Document" and "Perspective on Potential Changes" may be helpful to you as you contribute to the Review Process. Please consider providing comments to the Review Process to improve the Act. We can assist you with any aspect of this process:
